Top Comic Book Picks for 9/24/14 [SPOILERS]

In this weekly segment (I'm doing it twice this week) I go through my top comic book picks of the week.

Top 3 this week:

Deadpool #35 focuses mostly on Wade Wilson's relationship with his kid, Ellie, Who is currently living with Agent Preston. Deadpool decides the best place for him is near her so he buys a house next door... completely rational. Alongside this story line we have the North Korean X-Men being brought to Xavier's schoo... I mean the Jean Grey School for Higher Learning to be taken care of by Beast. We have yet another story alongside both of those involving Dracula fixing up a Spider-Slayer with which to to kill Deadpool... that didn't work out for him...

Does he look a bit like Mr. Freeze to anyone else?

I loved this book it had all the witty charm and class we expect from Deadpool (ball lightning jokes for example) while hitting the odd heart string along the way.

Batman: The Dark Knight #23.4 [The Joker's Daughter #1] is the story of a young girl, Duela, Who sees beauty where others don't. Her face scarred from self mutilation, Duela is disowned by her family and runs off to live in a tribe of sunken city dwellers. Even they will not love her. One day she finds a mask of flesh... Joker's face floats past her as she stares in to the water that flows through the caves of the underground city. With the face she has power and with power you don't need love. She does away with the tribe's leader and vows to bring her beautiful ugliness to the world above.

Totally sane...
This story got a little all over the place, but I actually want to see more of this character. She has been scattered here and there throughout the DCU over the years, most notably in Teen Titans. She is a manipulative little trollop who does everything she can to cause absolute chaos and corrupt absolutely. Duela is a frightening force. With nothing to lose, everything to gain, and a twisted love of all things twisted I'm excited to see her quest for power in future adventures.

Edge of the Spider-verse #3 takes place in a universe where Aaron Aikman, a molecular biologist, who re-sequenced his DNA with a that of a spider and was given great power. In this adventure He battles Naamurah an inter-dimensional being who finds a bridge to Aikman's world through the subconscious mind of a brain damaged young girl. Naamurah took the young girls body over and convinced her mother, a robotics engineer, to build a kind of mind controlling exoskeleton to graft onto her victims bodies in order to conquer the world. Spider-man discover the truth and rushes to stop the invading horde of brainwashed victims only to be stopped by Morlun.

Looks like a left over cover from an abandoned
Iron-Man/Spider-Man Crossover

This whole series seems convoluted, ridiculous, and full of plot holes... and I love it. It's such a neat concept that really sucks you in. You want to see all the different Spider-men, their costumes, origin stories, styles. It really refreshes Spider-Man for me and I can't wait to see what happens next.
